Perfection?

Have no fear of perfection – you’ll never reach it. – Salvador Dali

Perfection. What is that, exactly? If your idea of perfection is to compare yourself to someone else or some unattainable goal, you’ll probably always find yourself frustrated and unhappy.

Perfection is a myth. We all have flaws; but those flaws make us who we are. Who wants little carbon copies of everyone out there?! Not me! I’ll take my uniqueness, my quirkiness, my…”me-ness.” I’m all about striving to be a BETTER version of myself, but never a perfect one. I’ll always work hard and go after big things, but not at the expense of losing myself to an idea of perfection.

I’ll never be the fastest runner, the thinnest runner, the strongest runner. But I can be ME. And I think my version of me is pretty awesome. Perfect? Nope. And I’m totally cool with that.

Some would say a beautiful sunset is perfect, where others only see the coming darkness. Suffice to say, you have to be honest with who YOU are and what you want in life; never view yourself or your progress through anyone else’s lens.

What makes you…you?  And why would you ever want to change that?
